What: Webinar: Best Practices for Statewide Benchmarking Programs
When: Thursday, May 19th, 3:00pm – 4:00pm ET

The first step to managing energy use is measuring it. To measure, you need an effective benchmarking program. For this webinar we have two NASEO members, Alabama and the District of Columbia, that have managed highly successful benchmarking initiatives with very impressive results. Both programs have used ENERGY STAR resources to enhance their overall savings and impact. By joining this webinar you will learn what has worked for them and what may work for you to establish or improve your benchmarking initiatives and programs.

Presenters for the webinar include Mashall Duer-Balkind, Program Analyst for the D.C. Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and Liz Cochran, Energy Education at the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). Together they will cover:

• Overview of their statewide benchmarking programs
• How ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager is integrated into the program
• Best practices for implementing training and reporting
• Addressing and overcoming challenges: data access, utilities, and privacy

The webinar series has been developed in conjunction and coordination with the NASEO ENERGY STAR Task Force. The Task Force, including charter State and Affiliate members, has held listening sessions recently to identify the needs of the State Energy Offices and establish the direction of the Task Force.

NASEO has recently updated a series of ENERGY STAR infographics identifying the number of ENERGY STAR Schools by state and region to include 2016 data. State-level infographics and one-pagers are available.

Anyone interested in developing a state-specific one pager, or joining the Task Force, should contact Todd Sims at tsims@naseo.org.
