Investing in our nation’s correctional facilities to make them more energy efficient and sustainable provides an extraordinary opportunity – to reduce the financial and human capital costs of prisons through reduced energy and resource consumption, while engaging inmates in hands-on work experiences and training, to prepare them for jobs in the emerging clean economy. This webinar will focus on how state energy offices can drive and support energy efficiency investments at correctional facilities, to save taxpayers millions in energy cost savings and produce healthier environments. Participants of this webinar will hear:
o An overview of best practices for energy efficiency and green technology upgrades in correctional facilities,
o Energy savings potential and other benefits related to the greening of correctional facilities, and
o How energy offices are administering and supporting state initiatives to make correctional facilities more energy efficient.
Speakers will include Stephanie Davidson, to discuss the U.S. Department of Justice’s The Greening of Corrections: Creating a Sustainable System, and Jennifer Young, of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).
