Carson City, NV, Adds Free Car Charging Station

Drivers of electric vehicles have a free charging station at the Carson City Community Center, thanks to a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Energy, NV Energy and Carson City Public Works.

The newly-installed electric vehicle charging station can be found at Mills Park, in the parking lot between the Community Center and Aquatics Center. It was funded from GOE’s State Energy Program formula grant and a shared investment program from NV Energy. Carson City Public Works provided labor to build and Carson City will provide free power to consumers for the next five years.

GOE Director Paul Thomsen said the car charging station is a convenient outlet for local drivers. "Drivers can plug in and visit Mills Park, the library, community center or aquatics center, and then return to a charged vehicle, free of charge.”

EV drivers can also charge up at the NV Energy office on Long Street.
