The Kentucky Office of Energy Policy awarded a grant to River City Housing (RCH) to add energy efficiency measures to homes offered through the RCH First-Time Homebuyer Program. First-time homebuyers who qualify for a mortgage, have a household income below 80 percent Area Median Income, and complete a HUD-certified Homebuyer Education Course and Counseling can participate in the program.

Grant funds provided by the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy enable RCH to implement advanced energy efficiency measures in their newly constructed homes. This results in substantial long-term savings on energy costs and maintenance for first-time homebuyers. For instance, the enhanced energy features in one RCH home contributed to Louisville’s first affordable Zero Energy Ready Passive House with anticipated energy savings of $2,270 annually. This landmark project marks a significant advancement in the development of sustainable, energy-efficient housing within the local community.
