The Wyoming State Energy Office of the Wyoming Business Council has created a new grant program to help Wyoming communities study the feasibility of public transportation opportunities.
The Wyoming State Energy Office of the Wyoming Business Council has created a new grant program to help Wyoming communities study the feasibility of public transportation opportunities.
The Public Transportation Feasibility Study Grant provides funds to incorporated cities, towns and counties to assess public transportation needs and options.
There is no minimum grant request; however, the maximum grant award may not exceed $30,000. Eligible applicants are required to provide a minimum 10 percent cash match.
Sherry Hughes, energy efficiency program manager at the State Energy Office, said public transportation can reduce barriers to employment, health care, and other services.
“Public transportation can serve a variety of people within communities and for some places it may fill a serious need for residents,” said Hughes.
An application review and reward team will include representatives from the State Energy Office and outside assistance as needed.

The State Energy Office has allocated $90,000 for this program.
